The North Shore Food Pantry

The North Shore Food Pantry is an ongoing all-year-round ministry, working in conjunction with the Kauai Food Bank. It is a huge outreach program of this congregation that helps needy families on the North Shore. Anyone can come and request food.

Distribution of food for the Food Pantry at the Church of the Pacific: Thursdays 7:45 AM. Willing hands and people are needed to make this growing project go smoothly.

Donations of canned goods, and plastic shopping bags in which to distribute the food are always appreciated too. If you can help on Thursday Morning at 7:45, please call Joy (826-5108).

Boxes of food are purchased from the Kauai Food Bank. When it is delivered from the Food Bank, volunteers shelve and refrigerate it for distribution every Thursday morning at 7:45 am. On Thursday morning more volunteers are needed to distribute the food.

The Wilcox Foundation has generously granted the Church $5,000.00 to continue our efforts throughout the coming year. However, we are always in need to suppliment this amount to keep this progect going. Please give Generously.

Other Outreach Programs going on now and throughout the year...
School Supplies: Many children on the North Shore cannot afford the basic and necessary school supplies required to go to public school. Starting every August and going through September our church collects money and donations of basic school supplies that are then distributed to the local elementary schools. Please, the next time you go to Walmart, or Longs, etc, pick up an extra box of pencils, or some notebook paper, and give us a call at the church. We would be happy to pick up your offering, or you can bring it to the church. Mahalo!

Hansen's Disease Colony Every other year, some members of the congregation go to Moloka'i to do special projects at Kalaupapa, the Hansen's Disease Colony.

As events necessitate, the church issues special appeals and collects money for such things as the relief of Albanian refugees in Kosovo and the blankets for Afghanistan program. We also support Cambodian Ministries. The church has offered its facilities to accommodate meetings for groups such as AA, Cancer Support Groups, the AIDS Quilt Project, and HOSPIS.
