A New Ministry - Ke Ala Hoku

Ke Ala Hoku (The Star Path)

Rebekah Gabric Reid, MA, CADC, is program developer and coordinator for Ke Ala Hoku, Community Integration Program. Ke Ala Hoku (the Star Path), is a program geared toward joining the faith-based community, the judiciary, and the Kaua’i Community at large to become proactive in combating the insidious drug problem on Kaua’i. The Ke Ala Hoku programs intent is to educate and train community members to become Navigators (mentors) to adult drug offenders returning to the Kaua’i community following substance abuse treatment or imprisonment, due to illegal substance use.

The Church of the Pacific has offered it's office facilities in support of this effort. Rebekah currently has five homes for men and women. This project is fragil and needs our support, because it will help people who have been in trouble return to a good live and become substantial citizens. All donations offered at the Christmas Eve Service will go to this ministry. Thanks for your support.

  • Rebekah’s educational background includes a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; a Masters of Art, Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute Chicago/Rush Presbyterian Medical School Chicago; and is currently completing her internship for her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology with Adult Mental Health/Department of Health.

Prior to moving to Kauai in September, 2005, Rebekah worked in Chicago as a community based therapist for the Cook County Juvenile Justice - Special Service Unit with sexual abuse survivors and their families. She was then hired by the DuPage County Judiciary as a group facilitator for the DuPage County Drug Court and to assist the Chief Judges office in implementing Evidence-based Practices throughout the DuPage County Judiciary.
